Philosophy
Children are individuals and develop unique ways of responding to what goes on around them. As we guide them through their process of becoming independent persons, we provide them with an environment favorable to their physical, social, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual needs. Thus, they may assert themselves and develop their potentialities towards achieving a well-
adjusted personality.
The overall philosophy is to bring about a greater degree of social competence through respect for the individual child and the parent’s feelings as they come and are integrated in the school- family setting.
Purpose and Objectives
- To help children develop physically, intellectually, socially, spiritually, and emotionally by providing safe, caring, and healthy environment in a warm and friendly atmosphere.
- To prepare children for school through appropriate hands-on learning experiences and activities that promote growth.
- To help children acquire social skills for independent and individual growth that promote the child's sense of respect for self and others.
- To encourage good communication between the center and the parents/guardians in an effort to work collaboratively and encourage consistency between rearing at home and school.
Non-Discriminatory Policy
The Center promotes enrollment of children from diverse communities. All children regardless of race, ethnicity, socio-economic, and religious backgrounds are accepted into the program. All are welcomed to benefit from the services of DCPB Preschool.
Program Policy
DCPB Preschool believes that each child should be free to learn at his/her pace. Children will have the ability to function as individuals in a group. To meet our objectives, we have competent caring staff. The rooms are arranged in learning centers such as: manipulatives, arts and crafts, writing, library, housekeeping and dramatic area, as well as Science and Math activities. The learning centers have been set for children’s developmental gross and fine motor skills, including blocks, puzzles, crayons, papers, scissors, and paint. Although your child may occasionally bring home drawings and other completed art works, we focus on the process (on how the project is completed) not the end product.
