In 1907/08 two Sisters, Sr. Gerardina Bove and Sr. Pacifica Cuozzo, both from Acerno, Salerno, Italy arrived in New Haven, Connecticut. There they found a large colony of Italians who offered them a vast field of apostolate. They were therefore encouraged by the Superior General, of the time, to start an apostolate among the Italian immigrants. From New Haven, the Sisters came to Bridgeport in 1960.
The Sisters started a Day Care for working parents where people could send their children to them, confident that they were in a safe and loving environment. The parents of these little ones could not pay much, but they were so grateful to the Sisters, who did their utmost to help them in their needs.
