Welcome to Daughters of Charity of the Most Precious Blood Preschool Child Care

Daughters of Charity of the Most Precious Blood (Congregation) was founded by Blessed Thomas Maria Fusco.

Thomas Maria Fusco was born in Pagani, (Salerno) in 1831 in the Diocese of Nocera-Salerno, Italy to Antoinio Fusco, Doctor in Pharmacology, and Stella Giordano. Coming from a good religious family, he grew up with Christian virtues. Thomas was baptized on the same day he was born. Later, as a sign of devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary, Thomas added the Maria, to his name.  At childhood, he showed signs of becoming a priest while playing with other children as he pretended to celebrate the Mass. He entered the seminary and on December 22, 1855, he was ordained as a priest.

He was one of the most zealous priests; he promoted the devotion to the Most Precious Blood in the local church. His Charity was directed to every form of need and poverty. With great passion, he also stirred up many priestly and religious vocations to join him in his mission.

He was profoundly moved by the condition of a girl, who was on the street and an orphan. After prayerful discernment and consultations, Fr Tommaso Maria on January 6, 1873 (the Solemnity of Epiphany) founded the Institute of the ‘Daughters of Charity of the Most Precious Blood’ with three sisters and seven orphan girls. His purpose was to bring that Charity of Christ, through works of mercy, to the young, the poor, the sick, the elderly, and the orphans etc. He was engaged in his priestly ministry as well as dedicating his life to the institute he founded by opening many houses and orphanages.

Blessed Thomas Maria Fusco derived, reflected, meditated, and contemplated ‘upon the most vivid image of that divine Charity with which the Most Precious Blood of Jesus was shed.’ Blessed Thomas Maria was an apostolic missionary; he worked diligently for the salvation of souls, loving, and forgiving.

Since his death, on February 24th, 1891, his ministry continues entirely from heaven through his protection, and also, through the apostolate of the Institute founded by him.
